Summary

Seagen is seeking a Sr. Building Engineer for the multi-site Canyon Park campus within the Real Estate and Facilities (REF) organization to maintain building equipment in clean, operational, and functional condition in support of transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Sr. Building Engineer will be expected to oversee the management of external maintenance contractors, with an overriding focus on continuous improvement and delivery. On a daily basis you will be responsible for regulatory compliance and building maintenance activities. This is alongside the continual development of building maintenance standards across the campus.

This position will be assigned to projects that are complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and in making routine recommendations. You will assist or perform repairs on facilities equipment as required while targeting Best in Class results of site facility services. This role will require the standard work and non-routine activities performed on each asset are conducted safely, maintained appropriately, and allow for the efficient production of high-quality product. This is an on-site full time non-exempt position that reports to the Sr. Engineering Manager.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary technical advisor, coordinating and supporting the Building Engineer’s activities across the campus
  • Responsible for the establishment and delivery of maintenance programs / schedules, (planned, condition, inspections and reactive) that are aligned to and support the Seagen Maintenance Strategy
  • Performs repairs on facilities equipment as required and provides technical assistance to other departments for troubleshooting
  • Responsible for mechanical service calls and in-house repairs throughout company facilities
  • Assists in the identification and development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine tasks
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in performing and overseeing vendor maintenance programs and repairs related to Cold rooms, PM Steam Boilers, Hot water boilers, Chillers, and Cooling Towers
  • Advanced Knowledge and skilled in the operations, troubleshooting and repairs of mechanical/Utility systems, ie Electrical, Emergency Generators, HVAC, Compress Lab Gas distribution
  • Automation support of utilities
  • Maintains computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building automation systems (BAS).
  • Water Management Plan Knowledge
  • Drawing Management Engineering
  • Supports inspections of equipment to ensure that it is fit-for purpose, safe, compliant.
  • SME for CRs
  • Manage Compress Lab Gas System
  • Engineering Standards Control
  • Proactive Preventative Maintenance
  • Provides “on call” response to building system and equipment alarms on a rotating basis in conjunction with other Facilities Department personnel

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors/Technical Degree in engineering studies or 6+ years’ relevant experience performing equipment maintenance in a laboratory setting including mechanical and electrical work.
  • Person must be highly self-motivated and flexible individual who can manage multiple priorities and work within a fast-paced lab and office environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to assist others.
  • Must be a self-starter and work independently.
  • Experienced AutoCAD and Revit user Organizational skills are required.
  • Refrigeration Operating Engineer License or Grade 3 Steam Engineer License, or able to obtain within 6 mo.
  • Ability to complete the second level of a Building Operator Certification program within 6 months of job acceptance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Introductory and annual refresher GMP Training.
  • Introductory and annual refresher GLP Training.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment.
  • Must be able to lift 30 to 50 pounds and routinely work from a ladder.
  • Specific knowledge of building systems as assigned.
  • Awareness of details within EPA, OSHA, ISO, FDA and other relevant safety regulations.
  • All FA-Category SOP’s.
  • Previous experience in biotech, pharmaceutical or health care industry preferred but not required.
  • BA degree in Engineering, Mechanical or equivalent preferred.
  • Engineer License and/or certifications preferred.
