Summary
The Manager for Campus & Projects role serves as the site responsible for EHSS-related central services that support both North Creek and Canyon Park campuses and for Capex, site minor works, and FM-related projects. They will be responsible for site visitor, new employee, permit-to-work, and contractor program. This role reports to the AD, EHSS Operations, supported by the overall EHSS team, and works cross-functionally with Engineering, PMO, FM, Real Estate, and other key leadership. This role will also interact with executives across both campuses on projects and while facilitating services like waste management, Dangerous Goods Shipping, common support vendors, emergency response teams, etc. The position is also the central point of contact for projects reviews and provide direction on EHSS matters with the support of the EHSS team. This position will also work with embedded contractors and flex resources.
This person is responsible for the day-to-day aspects of the centrally provided services, advising projects, ensuring effective implementation of contractor standards and Permit-to-Work oversight.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Perform review and provide EHSS guidance/advice on all projects from the PMO, site minor works, and FM/Engineering organization to ensure integration of EHSS by Design and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This is done in collaboration of the Site EHSS leads and SMEs
- Drive the EHSS aspects for the Contractors Management, including screening, review of site safety plans, administration of permit-to-work, ISNetworld, and day-to-day oversight at Seagen
- Collaborate with PMO and EHSS to ensure proper design and oversight and control in projects
- Lead cross-site collaborative efforts in EHSS lead/related projects including EHSS Standards implementation, LO/TO, high severity risks, etc.
- Lead site visitor and new employee orientation EHSS efforts with HR and Security respectively
- Collaborate cross-site with global SMEs and site Duty Holders driving continual improvement of maturity within the site’s capabilities
- Plans, develops, conducts and/or supervises contractor/vendor/visitor training programs to create proficiency in Seagen EHSS requirements and expectations. This is done in collaboration with SMEs and Site EHSS Leads
- Support cross-site cross-functional business reviews, assurance audits, inspections, and risk assessment activities. Assist site leads in implement corrective action promptly to ensure company and regulatory compliance
- Be the single point of contact for EHSS for insurance related inquiries and response
- Conduct process hazard analysis to identify, evaluate and control hazards. Lead advanced risk assessment efforts such as PHA and bow-tie analysis in collaboration with SME
- Develop and maintain departmental metrics and reports for executive leadership.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in a biotechnology or Pharma R&D/laboratory environment
- Strong understanding of Chemical and Biological laboratory operations
- Experience in conducting hazard and risk assessments using various methodologies
- Experience in integrating EHSS, fire safety, seismic safety and other best management practices into design
- Familiar with pertinent federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate investigation reports
- Expertise in high severity risks including utilities and process safety
- Ability to lead without authority, work with executives, and build an engaged cross-functional team
- Experience managing and/or participating in multiple projects simultaneously
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental or related field from four-year College or university
- CIH, CSP, or other applicable professional certifications are desirable
