Summary
The Mass Spectrometry Bioanalysis and Technology (MSBT) group within the Translational Sciences Department is seeking a highly motivated and experienced scientist who will focus on development of novel mass spectrometry based bioanalytical methods. Assay development duties will include utilizing micro/nano flow chromatography with high resolution and accurate mass (HRAM) mass spectrometry, as well as highly multiplexed methods for analysis of low samples volumes. This position will also facilitate method development/transfer, validation and sample testing under regulated conditions at CRO partners. The ideal candidate will have experience in the following: qualitative and quantitative mass spectrometry, nano/micro liquid chromatography and HRAM mass spectrometry method development and troubleshooting and multiplexed assay development utilizing low sample volumes, sample extraction/preparation from a range of matrices. This position will involve designing experiments to answer unique bioanalytical questions, evaluate complex data sets, manage timelines and priorities across multiple programs, and have strong communication skills.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develop unique sample preparation and LC-MS based bioanalytical methods utilizing state-of-the-art technologies to address fundamental questions for lead large and small molecules.
- Implement workflows for developed methods, including report templates with strict attention to quality control.
- Perform sample testing, as well as mentor and train colleagues in new methodologies.
- Perform and coordinate troubleshooting and maintenance on LC systems and mass spectrometers.
- Generate data and reports to contribute to regulatory documents and filings.
- Acts as subject matter expert in the overseeing of method transfers, validations and sample testing at CROs.
- Work collaboratively with CROs to manage outsourced projects and deliverables while adhering to internal timelines.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of collaborative tools for tracking and managing outsourced studies
- Contribute to meetings to ensure alignment with internal/external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, as well as ability to effectively communicate and present in small groups and for large audiences.
- Represent team in highly collaborative groups across research, translational sciences and clinical development.
- Desire to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with HRAM mass spectrometry and nano/micro flow liquid chromatography.
- Prior experience with multiplex method development utilizing small sample volumes.
- Experience with sample extraction/preparation from a variety of biological matrices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. plus 0-2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent industry experience, in mass spectrometry.
- Experience using Sciex and Thermo instrumentation software.
- Functional knowledge of MS data analysis software, such as Sciex OS, Mass Frontier, Compound Discoverer, Protein Metrics, Biopharma Finder, Skyline, EncylopeDIA, and MaxQuant.
- Familiarity with guidance documents for method development and validations.
- Industry experience, or familiarity with GLP environment.
