Summary:

The Principal, Instructional Design is responsible for leading training delivery, instructional development, and knowledge assets for our information technology applications. You lead your team to creatively use instructional design, learning methods, and appropriate technologies to enhance learning and engage learners through blended learning solutions. You are responsible for strategically designing multi-faceted learning solutions and training programs. This includes instructor-led training, eLearning and self-paced learning, virtual classroom design, building toolkits, and job aids.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Leverage instructional design and authoring tool experience and knowledge to design and develop creative, learner-centered training programs, courses, microlearning tutorials, and materials in multiple modalities including synchronous and asynchronous virtual learning, classroom learning, interactive e-learning, simulations, animations, videos, job aids, facilitator guides, assessments, and resource materials.
  • Consult with stakeholders, subject matter experts (SMEs) and project managers to recommend appropriate learning solutions based on sound adult learning techniques.
  • Independently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Create engaging knowledge checks and assessments based on learning and performance objectives.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders, assess scope and timeline, and prioritize work.
  • Evaluate the need for updates to learning materials based on product releases, process changes, evolving business requirements, and learner feedback.
  • Drive and ensure best practices and standardization across all projects and materials.
  • Identify and track success metrics for learning solutions to improve performance and impact business outcomes.
  • Manage risk and competing priorities and deadlines for a team of instructional designers.
  • Coach more junior instructional designers.
  • Keep abreast of instructional design research, trends, technology, and tools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Education, Adult Learning, Communications, or related field.
  • Experience working in biotech / pharma, experience working in a GCP regulated environment with strong knowledge of ICH/GxP regulatory requirements.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience designing, developing, and delivering learning solutions.
  • Ability to interpret technical procedures and develop easy to understand solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, and Camtasia.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and/or SnagIt.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best-practices in course design and development.
  • Strong design aesthetic along with experience in performing quality assurance reviews on learning projects.
  • Must have the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with little supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expert abilities with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive).
  • Ability to quickly learn new products, processes, applications, and systems.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience with non-traditional authoring tools as such Vyond, VideoScribe and/or game authoring tools
  • Knowledge of and experience with gamification and learning games
  • Experience with visual design
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft SharePoint
