Summary

The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day ownership of accounting activities supporting the monthly financial statement closing process and performing other duties in the area of accounting operations.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Prepare/review journal entries and reconciliations for various month end processes and accruals.
  • Review accounting treatment of month end transactions for compliance with GAAP.
  • Perform month-end Oracle cash management process.
  • Analyze ongoing activities for trends and impacts on financial results.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Accounting and Finance as well as other internal and external stakeholders to inform preparation of accruals, entries, and analysis.
  • Assist with special projects related to financial systems, business processes and analysis as needed.
  • Identify and articulate improvement initiatives aligned with group and departmental goals and actively lead and/or participate in process improvement projects.
  • Ensure the highest standards of financial control and compliance consistent with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Assist in SOX documentation and testing.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Accounting/Finance experience
  • Experience working with enterprise financial systems (Oracle a plus)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Solid understanding of GAAP highly desired
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CMA and public/private mix preferred
  • Biotech/Pharmaceutical/High-tech industry experience a plus
  • Knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and internal controls
  • Ability to solve and analyze problems, multi-task, meet deadlines, and learn new skills and systems
  • Detail-oriented, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and able to perform tasks both in a team as well as individually
  • Desire for continuous learning and flexibility to work in multiple areas
